Electrical Occupations
Overview
Students in the Electrical Occupations program learn to safely install electrical systems in residential and commercial industrial buildings, read and understand blueprints, wire a variety of receptacles and outlet boxes, and mount electrical panels. The hands-on learning is supplemented with the study of electricity theory and how to operate and repair electric motors and electro-mechanical controls.

What to Expect
Students interested in this program will take courses in Carpentry, Construction Trades, Electrical Occupations, and HVAC for the first marking period. After the first marking period, students will apply for full-time entrance into one of the four programs, and they will be accepted based on merit and other criteria. Students who are not approved for their first choice will be assigned to one of the other three programs included in the rotation.
Uniform
Students at York Tech are required to wear a uniform at all times. While in their shop classes, they must wear the uniform designated by the program instructor. At all other times, students may wear their shop uniform OR York Tech apparel, which is sold through the School Store and the Fan Shop. Please review the Student Handbook for a full explanation of the dress code.

*The red program items should only be purchased AFTER students have completed the rotation AND chosen Electrical Occupations as their permanent technical program. **Some items sold in the Fan Shop, such as hats, may not be worn during school. Please review the Student Handbook for a full explanation of the dress code.
