York Tech provides bus transportation for students from all 14 participating school districts. The transportation we provide sometimes differs from transportation provided by a student's home district. Below are a few key points to keep in mind.
York Tech serves students from across the entire county. The combined miles of our vehicles for a single school day equal the driving distance between Boston and San Diego!
Students can be asked to walk up to one (1) mile to their bus stop.
York Tech cannot accommodate as many home stops as a home district due to the large areas our vehicles cover.
All students must be at the bus stop 10 minutes before their scheduled time to account for any unexpected fluctuations in arrival times.
Because our vehicles serve large areas, the average ride times may be higher than what students have experienced in their home districts. Below are the average ride times for York Tech students coming from each of our 14 sending school districts.
Central York – 30 minutes
Dallastown – 30 minutes
Dover – 1 hour
Eastern York – 1 hour
Hanover – 1.5 hours
Northeastern – 1 hour
Red Lion – 1.5 hours
Spring Grove – 1 hour
South Eastern – 1.5 hours
Southern – 1.5 hours
South Western – 1.5 hours
West York – 45 minutes
York City – 20 minutes
York Suburban – 20 minutes
Please contact the coordinator of transportation if you would like your child to receive bus transportation.
Evening activity bus runs are provided for students who participate in sports, after-school activities, detention, etc. Riding is a privilege. Misbehavior on the bus will result in the loss of riding privileges.
All sports participants are automatically added to the roster of the activity bus that is nearest to the student’s home. All other students requesting to ride an activity bus must make a request in writing (signed by a parent or caregiver) to the Transportation Department. Buses will be parked along the curb by the Spartan Arena (Door 46).
The buses will depart at 5:45 p.m. They cannot wait for late students. Below are the stops for each activity bus and the estimated arrival time to each stop. These times will vary depending on traffic and other conditions. Additionally, the bus numbers are subject to change.

Parents and caregivers are encouraged to drop off and pick up their students in the Queen Street parking lot. Students are not allowed in the building until 7:50 a.m. unless they previously scheduled a meeting with a staff member. Dismissal occurs at 3 p.m.
Student parking is on a first-come, first-served basis and is only available to those who have obtained a parking permit. The student parking lot is located on the south side of the building. Refer to this map for an exact representation of where students are permitted to park. Students must have a parking pass to use this lot, and parking in other areas is prohibited.
Students can obtain a parking permit by asking their parent or guardian to complete the online Parking Permit Form through Skyward using a desktop browser. (Printed forms are no longer accepted.) The form will require the student’s vehicle information, including a picture of the vehicle’s license plate and the car itself. Parking permits cost $20 per student.
