New SRO — We are proud to introduce our new student resource officer, Ofc. Andy Mallette! He is taking over for Ofc. Mark Price, who is retiring and transitioning to a new role. Please watch the video to learn more about our newest Spartan. [Video]

Need to Know

Clothing Donations — The Hub is seeking donations of winter outerwear, including coats, jackets, scarves, hats, and gloves. Donated items will help some of our York Tech students stay warm this winter. Items can be dropped off in the boxes located outside The Hub or given to a staff member in one of our offices.

Family First Health — We are excited to announce that we've partnered with Family First Health to provide additional resources for our students. Sandra Frecon, a community health worker with Family First Health, will be available once a week in the high school office to provide health-related services. [More]

Students of the Month — Congratulations to our students of the month for November: Austin Fake, Seamus Murphy, Yasmine Stover, and Trinity Webster! We recognized these students by presenting them with plaques during the Joint Operating Committee meeting on Nov. 21. Watch these amazing Spartans in action by clicking on the link. [Video]

Fall Play — This past weekend, 43 York Tech students were involved with the production of the fall play, which was titled The Play That Goes Wrong. They performed four times across three days, and the results were amazing! Thanks to stellar performances by the entire cast, this group brought the house down with its well-timed comedy. Welding Donation — The York location of BAE Systems generously donated a LiveArc Welding Performance Management Station to our welding program on Tuesday, Nov. 21. This unit is a reality-based training solution for GMAW, FCAW, and SMAW welding applications, which provides users with instant feedback to improve their welding techniques. Joseph Mack and Donnie Pritchard, employees at BAE Systems, delivered and assembled the station. Afterward, they trained some of our students on how to use it. We're very grateful to them and BAE Systems for this wonderful addition to our welding shop! [Photos]

Field Trip — Students involved with Student Council and the United for Change & Diversity Club traveled to Solanco High School on Nov. 17. They listened to keynote speaker Gian Paul Gonzalez, a high school teacher famous for inspiring the New York Giants football team, talk about leadership and an “all-in” mindset. Afterward, the group was able to meet Mr. Gonzalez and take a group photo with him. It was a very beneficial field trip! [Photo]

Esports Success — Congratulations to the three York Tech esports teams that made the playoffs during the fall season! The teams that qualified for the upcoming regional playoffs are Mario Kart Team B, Smash Bros. Team Elevate, and Smash Bros. Team New Genesis. Please consider watching them compete by tuning into the livestreams on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1, which will be available at https://ycst.info/sports-streams. Both competitions will start at 4 p.m.

Holiday Project — Ms. Wilson gave her welding classes a unique assignment last week. Students were tasked with using their welding skills to create free-standing holiday decorations out of metal. Their creativity was on full display, which put everyone in a festive mood! [Photos]

Sophomore Officers — Congratulations to the new sophomore class officers! They are Ydieliz Ramos (historian), Marcus Lebron (treasurer), Emma Grove (secretary), Jan Cruz-Valentin (vice president), and Garjuyen Johnson (president).
